Escape to the Chateau star Angel Strawbridge, 44, and her husband Dick Strawbridge, 63, make their return to our screens tonight for the show’s long-anticipated final season. Ahead of the popular series’ return, Angel has shared some sage advice about the art of thrifting in a new interview.

Angel is a long-term fan of thrifting, which is where one goes to thrift shops and charity shops in order to find good quality items for a great bargain.

Sharing her top tips, Angel issued a warning to fans about how “daunting” the activity can sometimes be and offered some wisdom.

“Thrifting has been a passion of mine ever since I was a little girl,” she explained. “I still get butterflies the night before a car boot sale because you never know what you might find!

“The large car boots can be daunting so my main tip is to go with a trolley and lots of change!

“Get there early to beat the crowds, and if you’re looking for ceramics and delicate items take some bubble wrap.

“The main thing with thrifting is to be decisive! You won’t have that moment again to snap up your treasure, so don’t waste it!” she added in an interview with Prima UK.

Escape to the Chateau’s return will be bittersweet for fans this year, as the couple have confirmed this series will be their last.

For the past eight seasons, Channel 4 viewers have enjoyed watching Angel and Dick renovate their chateau in France from a tired ruin to a stunning home and events venue.

The pair confirmed the news that the series was ending in a joint statement via their newsletter.

The statement said: “We are delighted to announce our ninth series of Escape to the Chateau will be starting soon in the UK.

“As soon as we have a date, you will be the first to know!” they promised.

In the headline, however, the fan-favourites added: “The Ninth and Final Series of Escape to the Chateau.”

The pair didn’t share whether the decision had been made by themselves or Channel 4, but they did also share a further statement with House Beautiful.

They told the interior decorating magazine: “Escape to the Chateau has been our family journey.

“Our decision to buy a Chateau with no water, electricity, heating or sewage has taken us on the adventure of a lifetime and we could never have imagined what would unfold.

“The good, the bad and the ugly… we have cherished every second and love that we have a visual record to show Arthur and Dorothy when they’re older,” they continued.

“We’re so grateful to everyone who continues to support us and we’re looking forward to what the future holds. As one Chateau chapter ends, so another Chateau story begins.”

While fans will be sad to see the series coming to an end, this is not the end for the popular pair.

Angel and Dick have since revealed that they will explore a new avenue in a follow-up series set to begin next year called Escape to the Chateau: Secret France.

Escape to the Chateau airs at 8pm tonight on Channel 4.
