Former TOWIE star Frankie Essex gave birth to her twins, whom she shares with boyfriend Luke Love, in May and has since revealed to the world that they’ve named their little bundles of joy Logan and Luella.
In her exclusive column for OK!, Frankie’s discussed a range of topics in regards to motherhood – from her first social outing with the twins and a blackout at her home when they were just a few days old, to “feeling more human again” as the babies drop their dreaded 2am feed.
This week, Franke discusses when she wants to get married, how the twins are getting on eating solid foods, and her hopes of weaning Luella off her dummy…
I’m not expecting a proposal just yet
Luke’s not proposing just yet – especially not on New Year’s Eve at our house. I think he’d come up with something more extravagant than that, knowing Luke. He says he’s already got it planned anyway, but I don’t know what it is. Apparently he’s always had it planned, so I’ll have to wait and see.
I don’t want him to rush. When we get married, if we do, I want it to be when the babies are a bit older. My friend’s little girl was five at her wedding, and I asked her if she remembered any of it, and she said no! That’s why I want the twins to be older. I want them to be properly there and to remember it – maybe when they’re around seven.
The twins have come on so much
Luella’s now saying “Dada” and started clapping yesterday. She’s rolling all over the place as well. She’s proud of herself. Logan just sits up, he’s not rolling yet but he’s loving life.
Logan’s has four teeth now. It’s mad! His two top teeth have come through, but Luella hasn’t got any yet.
I’m hoping if Logan starts watching Luella clapping and things he’ll start doing it too because they’re really interacting with each other now. They learn from each other.
I’m going to take Luella’s dummy off her
I’m going to try to get Luella off her dummy because she doesn’t sleep. Her sleep is so interrupted, and I googled it and spoke to a lady at baby sensory and she said that it’s definitely a dummy thing because they wake up and want their dummy. Between six and seven months, you’re supposed to remove it.
I’m going to do it. I asked someone how long it takes to wean them off it, and she said only a week. I was like, is that it?! She said her child was like a different baby afterwards and was sleeping through.
Logan doesn’t wake up and he doesn’t use a dummy, but Luella woke up three times the other night. It’s only a week. I can do it!
I got told off for buying the twins jar food…
I had to take back some of the jar food I bought because Luke said to. I said I got some to give it a try, and he pointed out how much sugar and preservatives are in some of them.
I think one jar had 15g of sugar in it, which is quite a lot isn’t it? Obviously Luke’s a personal trainer and nutritionist, so he knows his sh*t. He sat me down and I felt like a naughty child. He pointed out that the babies are obviously going to like the jar food because of how much sugar is in it. I didn’t even say anything… I just agreed to take it back!
The thing is that it’s easier to take out with you, but I’ll have a working kitchen in a couple of weeks so I’ll be fine.
I’m glad I waited to have kids
I’ve done so much – I’m so lucky. I’ve done so much travelling, so I think 35, for me, was the perfect age to have kids. At 30 I felt like I was still too young and that I had a lot more in me, and I did. I went to Bali and Tulum and had lots of nice holidays. I got to travel a bit more.
I still have lots to do, but I’m glad Luke and I got to do a lot together before we had the twins.
