Freddie Mercury was ‘in a lot of pain’ says Brian May
Yesterday marked what would have been Freddie Mercury’s 77th birthday.
Both Sir Brian May and Roger Taylor paid tribute to their old bandmate and close friend, who died in 1991 aged 45 after losing his battle with AIDS.
Both active Queen members shared posts to “dear Freddie” and now the guitarist has more to say.
Sir Brian posted a picture of Freddie playing one of his famous Red Special guitars probably back in the 1970s.

Sir Brian wrote of the photo: “Inescapably thinking so much about Freddie in these strange days.
“At the time this photo was taken I’m sure it didn’t seem very important to see Freddie’s fingers dancing on my own home-made guitar.
“Now it summons up waves of affection and great memories. He is so missed.”
However, the Queen legend then went on to express his great sadness at Freddie’s personal possessions being auctioned off this week.
