Do you feel like work is consuming your life and when you come back home your still thinking about it? Does it keep you up at night or do you find yourself boring your friends to tears about office politics when they just want to chat about Love Island? Well it seems you’re not alone.
A study of 2,000 adults found that rising work pressures and smartphones that constantly buzz combined with a fast pace of life mean that many people find it difficult to “switch off”.

The other factors that were attributed to this include longer commuting times, the pressure of a rising cost of living and the stresses of being a parent.
A whopping two thirds of the people polled believe that their lifestyle did not afford them time to relax and it was therefore having an effect on their health and emotional wellbeing.
Those that do find a part of their day to relax or decompress only do it for an average of 54 minutes per day, the research Twinings carried out through OnePoll found. Also on average twice a week those that took part in the study felt “mentally frazzled”.
Four out of 10 people also admitted that the fact that they find if difficult to unwind has had a negative impact on their life at home. Over half are even so busy that they don’t have time to have a tea break.
Beauty and Health
Although six out of 10 shared that they feel a bit apprehensive about altering their daily routine many had already made changes to help them relax. These include making longer tea breaks during their workday, not staring at their phones in the evening and reading a book before bed.
Other good tips are to do exercise and enforce a 'no talking about work' policy when you are out the office. Whatever it is that you need to do to relax, you should make sure to prioritise your mental health and wellbeing. After all, that's more important than work and you can't work productively if you don't. So, go on, put the kettle on!
