Caroline Flack was well-known for hosting ITV2 series Love Island since it began in 2015. The presenter stepped back from her duties at the end of 2019 with Laura Whitmore taking over for the Winter series. Following news of Caroline’s death today, ITV bosses paid tribute to the 40-year-old.
In a statement, bosses said: “Everybody at Love Island and ITV is shocked and saddened by this desperately sad news.
“Caroline was a much loved member of the Love Island team and our sincere thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends.”
Caroline’s family confirmed the tragic news of her death in a statement which read: “We can confirm that our Caroline passed away today on the 15th February.
“We would ask that the press both respect the privacy of the family at this difficult time.”

Laura, who took over Caroline’s hosting duties, took to Twitter to say she couldn’t find the words to comment on her friend’s death.
She told her 379,900 followers: “I’m trying to find the words but I can’t,” alongside a photo of Caroline hugging her.
Laura also posted a poem which read: “To lose someone so special is really hard to bear, it hardly seems believable that you’re no longer there.
“You left us far too early before you time, it seems, and now you’ll never have the chance to fulfil all those dreams.
“However hard it is though we’ll take comfort in the thought, of all the memories we have and the happiness you brought.
“You always lived life to the full but ours won’t be the same, until the day when we can see your smiling face again.”
Other stars took to Twitter to pay tribute to Caroline including former Strictly Come Dancing professional James Jordan, who posted: “Just seen on Twitter the devastating news that Caroline Flack has been found dead in her home.
“I’m so sad right now and I actually can’t believe it. Can’t imagine what her family are going through right now. #RIPCarolineFlack.”

Fashion designer Henry Holland added: “I love @carolineflack1 so dearly, she was the sweetest, kindest most open hearted person you could ever meet.
“A light in all of our lives if you knew her or not. I’m so sad and can’t stop thinking of her family. Please be kind to the ones you love and the ones you don’t.”
Radio 1 DJ and presenter Scott Mills tweeted: “I’m so very sad about Caroline. Genuinely provided so much laughter and kindness, and a true pro.
“I can’t quite believe it. Nothing but great memories. Sending all the love and strength to her family. Please be kind.”

Jameela Jamil shared: “It was only a matter of time before the media and a prolonged social media dogpile, hers lasted for MONTHS, pushed someone completely over the edge.
“Rest In Peace Caroline Flack. This is f**king horrendous.”
Claudia Winkleman also paid tribute to the former Strictly star, writing: “Such heartbreaking news. Sending so much love to Caroline’s family and friends. XXX.”
