Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters is a down-to-earth bride.
The former Miss Universe married ex-football player Tim Tebow in her native South Africa, wearing two custom wedding dresses by David’s Bridal.
“Being in the fashion industry and being a girl who has dreamed about this day since I was three, I had this planned out a long time ago,” Nel-Peters, 24, told People. “[I wanted] a little bit of the royal family inspiration. I mostly [was] looking around Pinterest. I also kept in mind what Tim would like in a wedding dress.”
The pageant queen said she tried on more than 50 designs before settling on an off-the-shoulder fit-and-flare look. She paired the simple gown with a cathedral-length tulle veil with a sequin and lace border. Her bridesmaids also wore white dresses with varying necklines from the same popular bridal retailer.
Tebow, 32, opted for a suit by Gert-Johan Coetzee to walk down the aisle.
Nel-Peters changed into a glittering halter dress, also by David’s Bridal, for their reception. “The second dress is more modern, sensual and fun,” she said. “It’s something I could enjoy myself in.”
Tebow proposed to Nel-Peters with a 7.25-carat engagement ring worth $1 million last January after less than a year of dating.
