The presenter of This Morning was terrified last week when police and ITV bosses offered her security.
Retail security guard Gavin Plumb was arrested at home in Harlow, Essex, allegedly in possession of weapons.
He was charged with soliciting to commit murder and incitement to commit kidnap.
The 36-year-old father of two appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on Friday in a green T-shirt bearing the slogan Aged to Perfection.
Holly, 42, had been due to join fellow stars at last night’s annual awards which honour members of the public for bravery in challenging situations.
But it was confirmed she will not return to work for at least three weeks as she deals with the situation, and will likely be replaced for most of this month by Alison Hammond or Josie Gibson.

She already had a holiday scheduled for half term, as she does every year. A source said: “As the days go by, something like this doesn’t get any easier for Holly but it is difficult to think about any kind of work right now, let alone when your job is to present a live television show.
“She needs to be around her nearest and dearest and take the right advice from the right people. This Morning presenters have been in touch with her and they will juggle covering her role for as long as is needed.”
Holly did not appear on screen last Thursday as she learned of the alleged plot only the night before. Friends have rallied around the mum of three.
One said: “Holly can’t believe this is happening. She has just got through the whole [former co-host Phillip] Schofield scandal and settled back into a new routine on This Morning. Nobody deserves to endure this.”
Prosecutors claim Plumb conspired with a David Nelson, tried to hire a hitman from the US and arranged for a third party to fly to Britain.
Plumb was remanded in custody ahead of a plea hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court due on November 3.
