Fred Sirieix is every inch the proud dad as his daughter wins another gold medal

Fred Sirieix has praised his daughter for having "nerves of steel" after Andrea won another gold medal at the European Aquatics Championships in Rome.

The First Dates star, 50, who recently detailed falling for fiancée ‘Fruitcake’ and the unusual way they met, took to his Instagram to share his pride as he posted several photos of the 17 year old standing at the top of the 10m dive platform as well as a snap of the rankings, showing her name at the very top.

In the caption, he gushed over his teen daughter as he wrote: "Andrea just won [gold medal] at the European Championships in Rome #diving #10m #platform #goAndrea.

Fred, whose daughter scored 76.80 for her final dive, with a total of 333.60, continued: "Nail bitting stuff once again! What a great last dive! My little [duck] has nerves of steel [red heart emoji] Well done my love [three clapping hands emojis] we are so proud of you.

"You are an inspiration and a ray of sunshine x".

Fred, who recently shared a peak inside his London home that he shares with his other half, then took to his Instagram stories to thank his 819,000 followers for their congratulatory messages.

"Thank you so much about the lovely comments about Andrea. It's very touching. She is such a sweet, fun and loving girl. Hard working and determined. Strong," he wrote.

The star added: "She is girl power. I'm so proud of her."

This is not Andrea's first medal in recent weeks though as early on this month she bagged her second Commonwealth medal, after winning silver in the 10m synchro platform competition.

And days before she was awarded her first gold medal for the women’s diving 10m platform.

Clearly overjoyed by his daughter's success, Fred revealed he's taking Andrea to New York as he told MailOnline: “We are going to take her to New York in September when she turns 18.

"We’ll spend a few days there as she’s never been. She’s always wanted to go."

Discussing Andrea’s gold medal, Fred said it was deserved “after 10 years of hard work and dedication”.

Recalling her Commonwealth journey so far, the doting dad went on: “Andrea totally dominated the preliminaries but in the final she started a bit slow. And you get nervous because all the girls up their game in the final.

“But she did what champions do and in her last dive she really turned it on and pulled a perfectly educated dive out of nowhere. It was her best dive ever. It was on the wire until that last dive.”
