Ranvir Singh says it’s ‘brave’ to try rebooting Little Britain
On Thursday’s instalment of Good Morning Britain, entertainment reporter Richard Arnold touched on the reboot of Little Britain. Presenter Ranvir Singh commented: “It’ll be very interesting to see how they do that kind of comedy in this era that we’re in.”
Agreeing, Richard replied: “It was dubbed the comedy of cringe back then, as I said the landscape has changed dramatically,”. The Good Morning Britain host quipped: “I think it’s brave to revisit it. I think it’s really interesting.”
Little Britain, which was written by and starred David Walliams and Matt Lucas, has come under fire in recent years due to its usage of racial stereotypes. In 2020 it was removed from streaming services before returning last year, with some scenes edited out to avoid offence.
However, it looks as though the rebooted version will be very different from how people remember the show. Although Matt Lucas and David Walliams starred in many roles in the original, they are now believed to be working with a range of writers and actors.

Speaking about the return, Matt told The Sun: “We are talking about how we can have diverse talent on screen and in the writers’ room and conceive it as something which is just not about me and David playing absolutely everyone.
“That is something we should have done but didn’t do back then.
“But we were making the show at the same time as many other people who were doing what we were doing and had that approach.”
The comedian highlighted that he respects people’s opinions and that things have changed from when the show first aired in 2003.
