I've battled to ensure I can still see my daughter but now my ex has a new man

DEAR DEIDRE: A YEAR ago my ex stopped my contact with my daughter and it has been a real battle to ensure I can still see her.

I am a 31-year-old man and my ex is 29. My daughter is 19 months. We split up when she was six months old.

Initially I had to go to court to see her in a contact centre twice a week.

This week I was allowed to see her without supervision which was lovely.

But what has upset me is my ex arrived to drop off our daughter with another bloke.

I’ve heard she has been with this guy for just over two months. I’m not happy that she is already introducing him to my daughter.

I don’t want him acting like her dad or her having a revolving door of new people coming into her life.

DEIDRE SAYS: It is so positive you have been given unsupervised visits with your daughter.

She is still so young and your relationship with her will hopefully develop and become stronger over the coming months.

You may not like your ex finding a new partner, who is also in your daughter’s life, but you cannot control what she does.

It is best not to get upset about the things you cannot alter. Instead, put your energies into building your bond with your daughter.
