  • Now the mother says she will hang onto letter as  ‘something amazing to keep’

Kate Middleton has sent a sweet letter to a six-year-old girl who invited Prince George, 8, to her birthday party.

Despite the huge volumes of fan mail the royal family receive, the Duchess of Cambridge, 40, ensured the anonymous girl received a personal response from the Palace.

And now the girl’s mother is reportedly hanging onto the letter, which she received several months after sending the invitation, describing the royal note as ‘something amazing to keep’.

According to The Express, the letter penned by the palace said: ‘The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have asked me to thank you for your letter, in which you invite Prince George to your 6th Birthday party.

Kate Middleton, pictured here sitting in the Royal Box at Wimbledon with her oldest child, Prince George, 9, made sure a girl who invited the young prince to her party received a personalised reply

The young prince, pictured here in an official birthday portrait taken by his mother, was unable to attend the party, however the Cambridges noted they were grateful for the invitation

‘I am sorry that it took so long to reply.

‘Their Royal Highnesses were extremely grateful for your kind invitation. Having given careful consideration to the possibilities, however, I very much regret that Their Royal Highnesses reluctantly feel they have to decline.

‘The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were immensely touched that you should take the trouble to write as you did to their son, Prince George.

‘It really was most thoughtful of you and Their Royal Highnesses have asked me to send you their warmest thanks and best wishes.

‘Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy your birthday.’

According to reports, the mother took to Twitter to share a photo of the letter, which she posted alongside the caption: ‘This is something amazing to keep.’

Meanwhile, Prince George enjoyed his own birthday recently, when he turned nine on July 21.

The milestone was marked with an official portrait of the future king, taken by his mother Kate Middleton.

She took the photograph during a family trip to a UK beach last month, after George and his siblings, Princess Charlotte, seven, and four-year-old Prince Louis, broke up from school.

Prince George has made a number of high profile public appearances in recent months, including appearances during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend. Pictured, George with his great-grandmother, the Queen on June 5, 2022

The oldest Cambridge child is said to be growing up into a happy, polite and contented boy who is ‘obsessed’ with football and loves being out and about in the fresh air.

As well as his appearance at the sporting event, he attended several engagements throughout the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend in June.
