Kevin Clifton: ‘It has to happen’ Strictly Come Dancing pro addresses leaving the show

Strictly Come Dancing professional Kevin Clifton, 37, joined the BBC show in 2013 and won the Glitterball trophy with his now girlfriend Stacey Dooley in 2018. But, despite his success on the show, he admitted he doesn’t want to stay on the show as long as Anton Du Beke, 53, has.

The dancer caught up with former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Katie Piper on her podcast to discuss his career.

During their candid chat, Katie asked Kevin if he had though about leaving the show.

He replied: “It has to happen at some point, I don’t see myself doing this when I’m 40.”

The podcast host then asked him what the average life expectancy in the career of a dancer is.

“I mean, well Anton Du Beke is there, he’s an exception to the rule isn’t he,” he replied.

The long-term professional has been on the show since its inception in 2004.

“They need to make him a judge,” Katie chimed, prompting Kevin to agree.

He went on to say: “I don’t see myself doing that when I’m the same age as Anton, he obviously just loves it and wants to carry on doing it.

“I don’t see that for myself.”

In the same chat, the Wedding Singer star went on to reveal his ideal future projects.
