Lee Riley and Jenny Newby have been isolating together amid the coronavirus outbreak in order to keep filming for Gogglebox each week. As the couple appear on our screens every Friday, many have wondered if the duo is a couple? Express.co.uk has everything you need to know.

Lee and Jenny first appeared on Gogglebox in 2014 and have since become a regular fixture on the show.

The pair were cast on Gogglebox after two of the show’s researchers approached them while they were at the Beverley Races Ladies’ Day.

Speaking to The Hull Daily Mail, Lee says at first he wasn’t sure.

Lee told the publication: “To be honest I didn’t want to do it.

“I’d say it took her about an hour and a half to talk me into it – about as long as it took me to get me out of bed.”

Are Lee and Jenny a couple?

The pair are said to have met more than 20 years ago when Jenny was the landlady of the pub Lee was a regular in.

The pair remained close and have been the best of friends ever since.

The pair are seen to keep quite reserved with their private lives; however, last year, Lee took to social media to celebrate 25 years with his partner.

In the post dedicated to his partner Steve Mail, Lee wrote: “Happy anniversary Steve 25 years of hell… ermmmmmm I mean bliss. You know your the love of my life.”

But it seems Lee is isolating away from his partner.

Taking to Twitter to say he and Jenny would be living together during lockdown to keep filming for Gogglebox, he said: “Thank you for all the lovely tweets and love from you all makes it all worthwhile isolating with Jenny JOKING.

“Hope you enjoyed the show big thanks to the crew, the cast, stay safe stay healthy stay in #Gogglebox goodnight goggleboxers.”

This came after Gogglebox received 20 Ofcom complaints about Lee and Jenny still filming together even though they don’t live together.

The pair film each week in Jenny’s caravan at Sand le Mere.

To adapt to lockdown restrictions, Gogglebox producers stated they would be giving all the show’s stars stationary cameras to avoid contact with staff.

At the time, Ian Katz, Channel 4’s director of programming, said: “The coronavirus outbreak is an enormous creative challenge for all broadcasters, and though it is having a profound impact on getting some of our productions onto screen.

“It’s also a time when public service broadcasters like Channel 4 can step up and help people navigate through the extraordinary challenges we all now face.”

Gogglebox will continue tonight on Channel 4 at 9pm.
