DIY SOS: Nick Knowles left in tears over performance
On Wednesday night, BBC fans watched a DIY SOS special which saw Strictly Come Dancing stars Luba Mushtuck, Katya Jones and Graziano Di Prima help the team.
Their mission was to transform the True Colours performing arts school, which is an all-inclusive dance studio for children and young adults with disabilities and learning needs
During the episode, the cast of Strictly went to meet some of the students at the school to learn a bit more about what True Colours means to them.
One of them was a girl called Charis, who has Down’s syndrome, who opened up to Katya about her father recently passing away.
Asking what he was like, the 20-year-old said: “He was just handsome and charismatic.”

When it was time for Charis to later perform on stage, she danced a solo to the song Stand By Me with an image of her dad behind her on screen.
As the performance continued, Charis was joined by the other children at the dance school who came to support her.
Visibly moved, presenter Nick Knowles and Strictly star Katya Jones were reduced to tears.
Nick said: “Not a dry eye in the house, it’s clear to see how much the school means to the community and members like Charis.”

After her performance, Katya had nothing but praise for the young dancer after her moving routine.
The Strictly star said: “To see on stage her looking beautiful in her dress and totally telling the story, I was just so proud.
“It was a wonderful demonstration of why they deserve this so much, it’s going to change their lives, 100 percent.”
Although it wasn’t only Nick and Katya who were left emotional after watching Charis as viewers took to Twitter to share their thoughts.
@LaraBadger1 commented: “Charis. You have made me a sobbing mess.”
@SleafordGooner added: “I’ve never watched #DIYSOS before and it seems I’ve chosen the motherload of emotional episodes with this strictly special. It’s joyful and simultaneously gruelling.”
