Pregnant Jorgie Porter ‘waddling around like a hippo’ as bump grows

When we catch up with Jorgie Porter, she is counting down the days until she welcomes her first child with fiancé Ollie Piotrowski – and she’s positively glowing.

The 34-year-old Hollyoaks actress recently revealed she and businessman Ollie will be welcoming a baby boy in December, and she can barely contain her excitement about his impending arrival, openly admitting she’d like him to be a mummy’s boy!

“There won’t be competition on who he loves the most, but I’ll be saying, ‘Love me!” she says, laughing.

It’s no surprise that Jorgie is so thrilled about becoming a mum, given what she went through last year. The former I’m A Celeb star tragically miscarried quadruplets last August when she was 14 weeks pregnant and she was very open about the devastating effect it had on her.

“It didn’t make sense,” she said at the time. “I’d not had any sign that things weren’t okay. No pain or bleeding, I was getting bigger, my boobs were growing, I had so much hair on my body and I still felt pregnant.”

But while she’s – for the most part – enjoying this pregnancy, she does admit that it’s not without its challenges.

“I’m not able to sit down or stand up, and I have lightning pains flashing through my body. But you get used to it and know it will end at some point. It will all be worth it. I can’t wait!”

In addition to the physical side effects, Jorgie says her pregnancy has had an impact on her mood and admits she was a “total bitch” in the first trimester!

Here, the star opens up about her mood swings, why she’s putting her wedding plans on hold and who she’d love to see head back into the jungle for I’m A Celebrity: All Stars….

Hi Jorgie! How is your pregnancy going?

Really good! I’ve got a big belly, but I think it’s because I’m so little. Nobody tells you about
the size of babies. I’m waddling around like a little hippo!

Have you struggled with any aspect of the pregnancy?

I think it’s safe to say that in the first trimester I was quite moody. When I say quite moody, I mean a total bitch. I was so ratty and angry and just not myself in any way. I was getting irritated by every little thing. I thought, “Why do women go through this?” There were other times when I was suspiciously happy. I was like, “Oh my God, I’m having the best time!”

Are you excited to be having a boy?

I was happy either way. I’m just so excited to be having a baby. It’s so nice to be able to say it. I kept slipping up at work. I’d say, “he… them,” and people just pretended they didn’t hear me. I’m excited for boy stuff and whatever comes with it. I’ve heard that boys are mummy’s boys, but he’s going to have a great dad too.

How is the wedding planning coming along?

Oh God, Ollie’s like, “I can’t even see this happening right now.” I wasn’t really a good planner anyway, so when we knew the baby was coming it was put straight on the back burner. To plan having breakfast or a day out is bad enough, so a wedding was just too much for me.

What support have you had from your fans since you announced your pregnancy?

They have been incredible. I’ve been asking questions on Instagram because, as a first time mum, everything is brand new, it’s a whole different language. So many people have been replying with the best advice and I’m truly grateful for all my fans. People are telling me what they’ve been through and what they’re up to and I’m reading every single one. I’m not in it on my own – you have your own little world of mums.

Have your Hollyoaks co-stars been giving you tips?

The first thing they all say to me is, “Wow, you’re big!” But yeah, they do tell me their stories. Some of them aren’t what I want to hear, but it is great. It’s the crew, too. There are a few women at work who are pregnant at the moment so we’re going through it together and comparing our pain.

Would you have liked to take part in the I’m A Celebrity: All Stars spin-off if you weren’t pregnant?

It’s probably that thing like when you’re pregnant and once you’ve had the baby you don’t remember all the bad bits and say you’d do it again, so yeah. I remember it being hard, but I also remember it being so fulfilling. The first time you do it you have no idea what’s coming or what to expect, but I’m thinking the second time maybe you’re a bit more prepared. Maybe it won’t be as shocking.

Who would you like to see represent your series?

Lady Colin Campbell! When we were in there, the entertainment value of Lady C was unreal, even when the cameras weren’t rolling. I loved Chris Eubank too, he was hilarious. I found it hard living with him though. I think
our series was the craziest. It never really simmered down.

Tell us about the YuMOVE doggy dental sticks you’re helping to promote…

I love my dogs. I have two but one’s on loan to my mum at the moment and she’s got stinky breath. Trying to shove your finger with one of those brushes in your dog’s mouth can be quite tricky. It’s just so important to look after your dogs with a little dental stick that cleans their teeth and looks after their gums. If we had bad teeth, we would be able to go to the dentist and say our teeth hurt but dogs can’t. Dogs love chewing a stick anyway so this can just help protect them a lot more.
