Remote Irish island wants you and a friend to live there for free and run the coffee shop

Sick of the rat race, the hustle bustle and the numb bottom as your chained to your desk…? Do you ever just wish you could leave all your worries behind and just escape to live on remote island away from it all.

Well, if you’re going to do that you may as well make money doing it, so we’ve got some great news for you. There is a job opening available off the south-west coast of Ireland at a picturesque place called Great Blasket Island.

You can live among the stunning views and fresh air. It is the ideal spot if you want to work on a novel or clear your head and it is advertised for two people, so you could bring along your partner or best friend.

The job runs from 1 April to October and requires you to be in charge of the coffee shop and three guest cottages, and be the only two permanent residents there. But a word of warning when we say remote island we really do mean it. There is limited drinking water, and no electricity, wifi or hot water.

However there is a small wind turbine that generates enough electricity to power one device so you could use that wisely…

The whole island is just 6km long and its highlights all revolve around the Great Outdoors: long walks on the green road and mountain tracks, lots of plants and animals, extensive bird life and different type of fish, as well as pre-historic remains are all listed among its main charms.

If this all sound like a dream come true you best be quick because they posted an update on their Instagram today which read: “We are beyond overwhelmed at the response for the job post for the Great Blasket Island coffee shop and accommodation.

“Posting the advert last year, we were concerned we would not find ANYONE willing to leave their job, pack their bags and move to a wind swept island with no electricity OR hot water in the middle of the Atlantic, off the Dingle peninsula for 6 months of the year!
