Happy Valley: Sarah Lancashire stars in season three trailer
Sarah Lancashire has been happily married to TV producer Peter Salmon for 22 years, but before this, she was in a 10-year marriage to music teacher Gary Hargreaves.
The pair met when she was 18 and were married by the time the Happy Valley actress turned 22. They share two sons: Thomas and Matthew.
However, the Sergeant Catherine Cawood star, now 58, previously claimed that the only reason she wed Gary was because she fell pregnant.
She told The Telegraph in 2001: “I got married only because I was pregnant. Simple as that.
“I am a very traditional girl and was horrified at the thought of having a child out of wedlock. I didn’t want a child of mine to be different or have fingers pointed at.

“It all seems ridiculous. Now, I just tell people to get lost, and it feels great. But my marriage lasted for 10 years, which was 10 years longer than it should have done. It was tough.”
After leaving Gary in 1995, Sarah spent a few years alone before falling in love with Peter.
The pair met through Coronation Street where Sarah was playing Raquel Watts and Peter worked for the show’s producers.
Peter popped the question during a 2001 trip to New York. Later the same year, they got married in a low-key ceremony attended by her Corrie co-stars including Kevin Kennedy (Curly Watts) and Charlie Lawson (Jim McDonald).

They welcomed their son, Joseph, in 2003. The TV star is also step-mum to Peter’s three sons from his previous marriage to Penny Watt.
It comes as Sarah’s portrayal of Sergeant Cawood in Happy Valley has landed her a nomination for Best Drama Performance at the National Television Awards.
She will go up against her Happy Valley co-star James Norton as well as Vera’s Brenda Blethyn, Call the Midwife’s Judy Parfitt and Bridgerton’s India Amarteifio.
Happy Valley is also nominated for Best Returning Drama against Call the Midwife, Vera and Stranger Things.
The National Television Awards will air from 8pm on ITV.
