DEAR DEIDRE: Ever since I had a weird and violent dream about my cousin I have avoided seeing or speaking to her.
In my dream, I told my cousin I wanted to marry her – and we kissed passionately.
Then her partner came along and I got so jealous I beat him up.
I’m 30, single and male, and I’m totally freaked out. I don’t fancy my cousin, who is 29, and I’m not a violent person.
I don’t understand what it means. I’m worried that subconsciously I do want to be with my cousin and hurt her partner, who I’ve always got on with well.
My cousin and I have been close friends since we were kids. We used to talk a lot. But now I can’t bring myself to reply to her messages or go on her social media.
It’s been a week since my dream and she’s noticed something is up.

DEIDRE SAYS: Dreams can be disturbing and disconcerting. While some people believe they have meanings, these are not literal.
Perhaps your cousin symbolises something else in your life.
Maybe it’s not her you want, but a relationship. And you’re not jealous of her partner, but of what they have.
Either way, don’t let your dreams spoil your friendship with her. Get in touch and catch up.
Talking normally will put the dream in perspective.
If you do want to find a relationship, my support pack, Finding The Right Partner For You, might help.
