Shakira couldn’t be happier with her and Jennifer Lopez’s Super Bowl 2020 halftime show performance.
While the Colombian singer no doubt celebrated in Miami following the big game — which doubled as her 43rd birthday party — she also paid tribute on Instagram to the duo’s history-making show that honored the Latino community.
“The best birthday gift has been the support of all my fans and the most amazing and hardworking team an artist could wish for,” she captioned a photo of herself from the show, which solely featured Latino performers onstage. “We Latinos climbed Kilimanjaro and made history tonight and we couldn’t have done it without all of you!”
Prior to the halftime show, Page Six exclusively reported that Shakira and Lopez would team up with reggaeton musicians Bad Bunny and J Balvin.
The show ended with Lopez bringing out her 11-year-old daughter, Emme, to close out the show in a cameo that was meant to represent the American Dream.
Demi Lovato sang the national anthem before the start of the game, marking her second live performance since suffering a near-fatal drug overdose. She sang live at the 2020 Grammys last week.
