It’s been on the cards for a while in Neighbours, but Harlow (Jemma Donovan) is about to get a big dose of comeuppance.
Harlow has been getting under Chloe’s (April Rose Pengilly) skin at Lassiters, being the granddaughter of the boss and getting away with all sorts of things she wouldn’t even dream of. But when Harlow gets a promotion above her through pure nepotism and not a single ounce of talent, Chloe is fuming.
Harlow, however, is loving life. She has a new role, a huge load of responsibility, and several members of staff to boss around. Life is sweet. But when she goes about a project in a completely cack-handed, screams-of-lack-of-experience, way, she starts to see the error in her ways. But that doesn’t mean she’ll step down.
However, pretty soon it won’t actually be her choice. There is a mutiny swelling amongst the ranks as the staff at Lassiters become fed up with Harlow’s inexperienced and heavy-handed approach. Chloe goes to HR in a bid to get Harlow unseated, and the manager suggests Paul rescinds Harlow’s promotion or risks an uprising. Paul being Paul won’t be told what to do and refuses. This angers Terese, who can see things are getting heated.
Terese is right to be angry – she learns the staff are planning to strike over Harlow’s new role and she’s not sure what to do.
The staff’s plan to strike works – Harlow’s job is unceremoniously ripped from her and she is demoted right back down to the laundry room. It’s a tough life lesson, but she asked for it. That said, she is most definitely not ready to accept it.
Chloe suggests she keep a low profile, but that is like a red rag to a bull. She holds Chloe fully responsible for her fall from grace and doesn’t plan to let her get away with it. She’s got revenge on her mind and Chloe is the target, what will she do?
Scenes air from Monday 20th September on Channel 5.
