Zoe Ball has revealed how she almost burned her house down after lighting a candle – leaving firefighters to rush to the rescue.
The 52 year old BBC Radio 2 presenter made the shock confession on-air, during her breakfast show, as she said that she had left a candle 'smouldering' from the night before in her living room.
Zoe then praised the emergency services who came to her home for 'stopping my house burning down'.
Her shock confession came when listeners of her breakfast show phoned in to talk about things that had happened to them 'for the first time'.
Zoe said: "Something that happened to me for the first time was that yesterday, the fire brigade went to my house.
"I had left a candle burning in the lounge.
"I was so obsessed with The Matrix and the fact that I had made a cake on Sunday, I had gone out and hadn't blown out one of the candles.
"It was left smouldering in the lounge and at 9.25am my smoke alarms went off and thank goodness!
"Otherwise I might have gone home to no home!"
She continued: "Thank you to my neighbour Abs and my gorgeous Em who called the fire brigade and I'd like to give a big shout-out to Duncan and the Uckfield boys, Joe and Cameron and Steve, who went around, put out the candle and stopped my house from burning down."
Zoe and her boyfriend, Michael Reed, recently moved from their £1million house in Ditchling, East Sussex, to Lewes, eight miles away.
The radio star was previously married to world-famous DJ Fatboy Slim, aka, Norman Cook, with whom she shares son, Woody, 22, and daughter, Nelly, 13.
Despite announcing their separation in 2016, Zoe and Norman have remained on good terms, so much so, that they can share a joke from time to time.
Earlier this year, Zoe told her ex-husband, in jest, that she ‘tried to block him from her memory’ as she interviewed him on her radio show.
Norman said: “First time I went to Glastonbury was 1986 with The Housemartins.” Zoe further probed: “Did you play or you were just hanging out? You played.”
When Norman replied they played on the Pyramid Stage, Zoe asked where they appeared on the bill.
Norman quipped: “Do you not know this? You know nothing about me.”
Zoe replied: "I know nothing about you. I've tried to block it from my memory. No I’m only kidding."
The pair continued to make light of the fact they were once married. Zoe said they ‘hadn’t had a natter on a microphone on a radio show or a telly show for quite a long time’.
