The Princess of Wales is signalling a modern style and curating her personal brand with her new hairdo, experts have revealed.

Royal fans have gone wild for Princess Kate’s style as she has stepped out to resume royal engagements this month, following a summer holiday with the family.

As she debuts 70s-style bangs and curls in her slightly shorter locks, the mother-of-three looks regal as ever while carrying out her royal engagements, whether in her capacity as patron of England Rugby at the Rugby World Cup, or overseeing the success of charitable schemes as she has today at HMP High Down in Surrey.

As the Princess of Wales, 41, enters her second year in her role, following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, award-winning personal stylist Lisa Talbot says the new haircut is indicative of a ‘young and modern’ member of the royal family who is keen to ’embrace a fresh look’.

She told FEMAIL that Princess Kate’s ever-evolving look is a sign she is keen to follow trends and change with the times, as the royal family itself evolves.

Hair experts have weighed in on the Princess of Wales’s new hairdo as she begins another year of public engagements. As Princess Kate, 41, arrived at HMP High Down in Surrey today, she looked regal as ever with her hair in bouncy curls and a fringe with a middle parting

As she made a low-key solo appearance at the Stade de Marseille to cheer on England against Argentina in the Rugby World Cup on Saturday, the Princess debuted her trademark thick brunette locks in a chic down-do paired with her favourite Alexander McQueen white suit.

Although she hadn’t made any drastic changes to her hairstyle, Princess Kate swapped the side parting she had favoured during royal engagements before her summer break for a centre part.

Before her summer break with the family, the Princess of Wales had opted for straight-styled hair on public outings, with a side parting (pictured at the Gentlemen’s Singles Final of Wimbledon 2023)

She also swapped straight-styled locks for perfect curls, and sported a loose, 70s-style fringe with a part in the middle.

According to Lisa, Kate’s fun new look is a sign she is willing to move with the times and has her finger on the pulse of new trends.

‘With a new season coming it’s lovely to see Kate showcasing a new hairstyle which is slightly shorter & with more layering,’ she said.

‘I think this signifies a royal that is young and modern and really wants to embrace a fresh look that creates a personal brand that draws the public to her.

‘It shows trust, empathy, kindness and a wanting to show that she is like many women who can and will change with the times.’

Louise Bailey, hair extension expert at Beauty Club London and hair stylist to the stars, noted the Princess’s use of hair extensions in achieving her new look.

Rather than adding length, Louise explained it’s likely Princess Kate has opted for extensions to add a little more thickness to her brunette tresses.

She added Kate’s stylist has ‘mixed in lighter bits’ with the extensions, which has enhanced the overall vibrance of her hairdo.
