Amy Dowden has shared with fans that she has been left feeling “extremely sick” after her fourth round of chemotherapy and that her mum Gillian spent her birthday looking after her.<\/p>\n
The Strictly Come Dancing star revealed in May that she had been diagnosed with aggressive stage three breast cancer, and has been forced to pull out of the 2023 series.<\/p>\n
The Welsh dancer has kept her followers updated with regular posts, with her most recent Instagram story revealing that she was “extremely sick” and “very tired” despite taking three types of anti-sickness medication.<\/p>\n
She wrote: “Chemo Four. Was extremely sick immediately even with three types of anti-sickness. Very tired too. Going to be resting up.”<\/p>\n
Amy also shared that it is her mother’s birthday today, and she has spent it looking after Amy as she continues to fight the disease.<\/p>\n

Even spending your day looking after me!”<\/p>\n Not long after her diagnosis, the pro dancer made the tragic announcement that doctors had found “more tumours” and that she would have to undergo chemotherapy.<\/p>\n Speaking about her diagnosis, she said on Instagram: “Hey all, I’ve got some news which isn’t easy to share. More info<\/p>\n Speaking to The Mirror, she explained: “I just thought it was my reaction to chemo, but as it turned out, I had already got an infection.<\/p>\n “The doctors and nurses were telling me I had sepsis and that it was life-threatening, but I wasn\u2019t taking it in.”<\/p>\n Luckily, doctors were able to treat her after being taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).<\/p>\n Amy also revealed that when she was first scouted for Strictly Come Dancing, it was a difficult choice, as she was on the cusp of competing in a major dance competition with her husband.<\/p>\n Thankfully, she was able to compete in both and was recruited the following year as a professional. She was paired with soap star James Bye in the 2022 series.<\/p>\n Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday at 6.35pm.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
