Danniella Westbrook has been slammed for coming to Russell Brand\u2019s defence following allegations of rape, sexual assault and controlling behaviour made against the TV comedian. <\/p>\n
The allegations from four women date back to the height of his\u00a0fame\u00a0between 2006 and 2013.<\/p>\n
Brand, 48, who was the subject of\u00a0Channel 4<\/strong>\u00a0and The Times\u2019 Dispatches episode on Saturday night,\u00a0denies the allegations\u00a0and, in a video posted online on Friday night, he said that while he was \u2018promiscuous\u2019, all of his\u00a0relationships\u00a0have been \u2018consensual\u2019.<\/p>\n EastEnders star Danniella commented under said video, coming to Brand\u2019s defence to say that it\u2019s \u2018disgusting\u2019 what is \u2018being said\u2019 about him, branding the Get Him To The Greek actor a \u2018kind\u2019 person. <\/p>\n \u2018Its disgusting what\u2019s being said about you,\u2019 the former Sam Mitchell actress wrote on the social media platform. <\/p>\n \u2018Never in my life have I met a more helpful kind and funny person. Sending love always mate xx.\u2019<\/p>\n The EastEnders actress sparked backlash with her comments, with social media users quick to respond, calling her out for what she said. <\/p>\n \u2018Just because it didn\u2019t happen to you it doesn\u2019t mean it didn\u2019t happen to anyone else,\u2019 wrote upset commented. <\/p>\n \u2018There is clear footage out there to show how he has portrayed HIMSELF. <\/p>\n Why can\u2019t that be enough not to be accept his behaviour. I\u2019m shocked you\u2019re here in support of him.<\/p>\n Another said: \u2018Just because thats your experience of him doesn\u2019t mean that\u2019s someone else\u2019s.\u2019<\/p>\n Metro.co.uk has reached out to Daniella\u2019s reps for comment. <\/p>\n Danniella is best known for her portrayal of Sam Mitchell in EastEnders. She joined the long-running soap in 1990 and would appear regularly for a decade before departing 2000.\u00a0<\/p>\n Sam was written out of the show, and when she returned in 2002, it was actress Kim Medcalf who played her.\u00a0<\/p>\n Danniella would go on to reprise the role in 2009, as Sam made a memorable comeback, with the star\u2019s final appearance coming in 2016 at Peggy\u2019s funeral.<\/p>\n In more recent years, Kim has taken over as Sam once again and she is set to return to EastEnders as the iconic Mitchell sister in the coming months.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\")
