Ryder Cup legend Ian Poulter sent a message of support to team Europe after the LIV golfer was denied a chance to make his eighth appearance in the tournament.<\/p>\n
Poulter has been a staple of European Ryder Cup teams over the last two decades, starring in seven of the last nine editions and delivering a number of memorable moments.<\/p>\n
The Englishman was dubbed \u2018the Postman\u2019 for his ability to deliver points for his side, doing so most famously in 2012 when his heroic display inspired a famous European final-day comeback at Medinah.<\/p>\n
However, the 47-year-old was not eligible to be selected for this year\u2019s tournament in Rome, which gets underway on Friday, due to his decision to join LIV Golf.<\/p>\n
Despite his painful omission, Poulter still sent a message of support saying on X, formerly Twitter: \u2018Before all the fun and games begin for Europe vs USA I wish all the lads the best of luck in Rome this weekend and hope they can regain the trophy and bring it back to Europe.<\/p>\n
\u2018The team looks young, energetic with incredible experience which is a great combination.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u2018It\u2019s just more I think this week is a realisation that the decision that they made has led to not being a part of this week, and that\u2019s tough.\u2019<\/p>\n
