Prime Video has ordered two seasons of the new adult animated series “Hazbin Hotel” from Vivienne Medrano, A24 and Fox Entertainment’s Bento Box Entertainment.

The animated musical comedy series follows Charlie, the princess of Hell, as she attempts to rehabilitate demons to peacefully reduce overpopulation in her kingdom. Per the series logline, “After a yearly extermination imposed by angels, [Charlie] opens a hotel in the hopes that patrons will be ‘checking out’ into Heaven. While most of Hell mocks her goal, her devoted partner Vaggie, and their first test subject, adult film-star Angel Dust, stick by her side. When a powerful entity known as the ‘Radio Demon’ reaches out to assist Charlie in her endeavors, her crazy dream is given a chance to become a reality.”

“Hazbin Hotel” is based on creator Medrano’s animated pilot released on YouTube in 2019, which amassed more than 89 million views. Following the success of the “Hazbin Hotel” pilot, Medrano created “Helluva Boss,” a spinoff series that revolves around the employees of an assassination company in Hell.

Medrano serves as executive producer and directed all episodes. Joel Kuwahara, Dana Tafoya-Cameron and Scott Greenberg executive produce via A24, with Greenberg only serving as EP for the first season. “Hazbin Hotel” is produced by A24 and Fox Entertainment’s Emmy award-winning animation studio Bento Box Entertainment.

Medrano is repped by Redefine Entertainment, CAA and Lee Rosenbaum at RLG LLP.

The eight-episode first season of “Hazbin Hotel” is set to premiere in January 2024 exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
