{"id":69940,"date":"2023-10-21T09:35:12","date_gmt":"2023-10-21T09:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/geels.net\/?p=69940"},"modified":"2023-10-21T09:35:12","modified_gmt":"2023-10-21T09:35:12","slug":"meryl-streeps-last-public-appearance-with-husband-don-gummer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/geels.net\/beauty\/meryl-streeps-last-public-appearance-with-husband-don-gummer\/","title":{"rendered":"Meryl Streep&apos;s last public appearance with husband Don Gummer"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Meryl Streep&#8217;s last public appearance with husband Don Gummer as couple reveals they &#8216;separated six years ago&#8217; after 45 years of marriage<\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>\u00a0In a statement, the actress and sculptor revealed &#8216;they have chosen lives apart&#8217;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Meryl Streep revealed she had separated from her husband Don Gummer &#8216;more than six years ago&#8217; in a shock announcement on Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The former couple, who married in 1978, were last pictured together at\u00a0the 90th Academy Awards\u00a0at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood in March 2018.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During the event the actress, 74,\u00a0received her 21st nomination for her leading role in Steven Spielberg&#8217;s The Post, with her husband supporting her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meryl put on an elegant display in an eye-catching scarlet gown by Christian Dior, with a plunging neckline and waist belt.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Standing beside her, Don, 76, looked smart in a black suit with a white shirt and satin tie.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/10\/21\/09\/76831593-12656209-image-a-9_1697878460232.jpg\" height=\"824\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Split: Meryl Streep, 74, revealed she had separated from her husband Don Gummer, 76, on Friday they\u00a0were last pictured together at the 90th Academy Awards in March 2018 (pictured)<\/p>\n<p>The pair were seen smiling on the red carpet, with Don wrapping a loving arm around his wife&#8217;s waist.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a statement shared to Page Six, a spokesperson expressed that The Devil Wears star and the sculptor &#8216;have been separated for more than 6 years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart.&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The pair initially tied the knot in 1978 and share four children:\u00a0Henry, 43, Mamie, 40, Grace, 37, and Louisa Jacobson, 30.<\/p>\n<p>The former couple were first introduced through Meryl&#8217;s brother in 1978, and said &#8216;I do&#8217; later that same year in\u00a0September during a romantic ceremony in the garden of her parents house.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The nuptials took place six months after her late boyfriend and fellow actor, John Cazale, passed away in March 1978 following a diagnosis of lung cancer.<\/p>\n<p>One year after his death, the Mamma Mia! star reflected on the loss, and told People\u00a0at the time, &#8216;The death is still very much with me. It has forced me to confront my own mortality, and once you do that, you look at things differently.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Following his death, the actress needed to move out of the apartment she had shared with Cazale, and received help from her brother and one of his friends &#8211; who happened to be Gummer.<\/p>\n<p>Meryl and Don became close and he let Meryl sublet his apartment in New York City when he was not in the Big Apple.
