AMANDA Abbington is going to miss this week's of instalment Strictly Come Dancing, fans of the show will be gutted to hear.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But why exactly is Amanda unable to take to the dance floor and what have people said about the situation?<\/p>\n

Who is Amanda Abbington?<\/h2>\n

Amanda Abbington was born\u00a0Amanda Jane Smith\u00a0on February 28, 1974 in\u00a0north London.<\/p>\n

Amanda is an only child and was brought up in Hertfordshire, England.<\/p>\n

In October 2021, she got engaged\u00a0to\u00a0Britain's Got Talent\u00a0escapologist\u00a0Jonathan Goodwin.<\/p>\n

Her\u00a0fiance was paralysed for life\u00a0after a\u00a0stunt in the US tragically went wrong in October 2021.<\/p>\n

Abbington starred as Miss Mardle in\u00a0Mr Selfridge\u00a0from 2013 until 2016 and is famous for her\u00a0role as Mary Morstan, the wife of John Watson,\u00a0played by her ex\u00a0Martin Freeman \u2014 who she has two children with \u2014 in\u00a0Sherlock.<\/p>\n

She played numerous characters in police drama\u00a0The Bill\u00a0until 2007, also appearing in\u00a0Wycliffe,\u00a0Casualty, Dream Team, The Sins, Shades,\u00a0Doc Martin, Coupling and Teachers.<\/p>\n

In 2023 Abbington starred in the four-part Channel 5 television series,\u00a0Desperate Measures,\u00a0as well as appearing in ITV's The Family Pile, and Netflix show Lockwood & Co.<\/p>\n

In August 2023, it was announced that Amanda has joined the\u00a0Strictly Come Dancing\u00a0lineup.<\/p>\n

The BBC Press Office tweeted: "The game is on! Award-winning stage and screen actor Amanda Abbington is the first celebrity confirmed for #Strictly Come Dancing 2023 and can't wait to start. Is she ready for a study in sparkles?"<\/p>\n

Why is Amanda Abbington missing Strictly this week?<\/h2>\n

The\u00a0BBC One\u00a0dance show has been thrown into chaos as\u00a0Amanda\u00a0has fallen ill.<\/p>\n

Abbington, 49, won't be strutting her stuff on the dance floor on Saturday night with her partner\u00a0Giovanni Pernice, where the couple were due to perform a Cha-cha-cha.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson explained: \u201cDue to medical reasons Amanda Abbington will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.<\/p>\n

"Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Host\u00a0Janette Manrara\u00a0broke the news of Amanda falling ill on spin-off show It Takes Two.<\/p>\n

Opening the show, she announced: "We have some breaking news, unfortunately, due to medical reasons, Amanda will not be taking part in\u00a0Strictly Come Dancing\u00a0this weekend."<\/p>\n

What have people said about Amanda Abbington?<\/h2>\n

In response to the news of Amanda being unable to perform, former Strictly professional and It Takes Two presenter Manrara said: \u201cAmanda, we hope you get well soon, my love, sending you all the best wishes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans of the show also rushed to social media to send well wishes to the pair.<\/p>\n

One posted: "Get better soon Amanda and Giovanni."<\/p>\n
