A bloke shocked social media users after he claimed his sister told their parents he was dead – and they apparently didn't find out the truth for six months.

Callum, from New Zealand, shared the story of the wild prank when he called in to ZM Radio show, leaving the hosts lost for words. In the clip, which has now begun circulating on social media, the bloke was living in Wellington when his sisters were having difficulties getting on with their parents, who were living in Christchurch.

So, they decided to pull the prank on them as Calum said: "My older sister actually called my parents up and told them that I’d died." Presenters Carl Fletcher, Vaughan Smith and Hayley Sproull were left speechless as they braced themselves to hear the "best" story they had ever heard.

He went on to explain that his cunning siblings made up a story about him being "stabbed" and ensured their story fool proof by claiming the funeral had already taken place and their parents hadn’t been invited because his ex-girlfriend’s mum and dad “didn’t want them there”. To which, Vaghan Smith replied: "Your sister sounds like a crazy b****."

But the prank wasn't exposed until Callum reached out to his parent after not hearing from them for half a year. He added: "I was just busy with life and work and then I was like, wait, I haven't heard from my parents in a while. I wonder what's going on?”

He decided to call them and was left stunned when they responded "you're alive?" and were "beside themselves". His mum was "in tears" and his dad was "just gobsmacked" – but both were obviously "over the moon" that their son was alive.

However, a mystery TikTok user, who claims to be Callum's sister, argued under the post that she didn't tell her parents her brother was dead but said the story was "a good laugh". She refused to call the show herself to "straighten things out" as she didn't want to air out "dirty laundry".
