Take That star Howard Donald has revealed that his lungs collapsed on stage but he continued to perform.<\/p>\n

The singer did his signature backflip during the band’s sold out gig in Vienna when he suffered the serious injury that led to him being hospitalised for days.<\/span><\/p>\n

When asked by band mate Gary Barlow about the incident during the fourth episode of the Take That: This Life podcast, he recalled: “I did my Arab Spring backflip and then when I went into the splits.<\/p>\n

“It was almost like my rib cage had gone over my hip, caught my hip and separated my lungs. <\/span><\/p>\n

“On your ribcage, there’s a little bit of gel that makes your lungs rub against your ribs,” he explained. “That separated so therefore the lung had deflated. <\/span><\/p>\n

“I did the whole show because it just hurt. I just thought I’d hurt myself here and then I did another two shows out of breath\u2026 We went to the doctors in Vienna. He took an x-ray and said your lungs collapsed.”<\/p>\n

The 55-year-old admitted that the diagnosis made him “feel like a failure”.<\/p>\n

“It was such a very strange feeling because I felt like my body had failed me,” he said.<\/p>\n

“At that moment in time, I felt like a failure because I thought I’d let everyone down here because I’m gonna be in hospital now for like three or four days.”<\/p>\n

In the chat, which also included band member Mark Owen, the group mused over their first Wembley gig as well as meeting Princess Margaret. The group also revealed they have also suffered other major injuries during dance routines.<\/p>\n
