In the first episode of the hotly-anticipated show, Coleen looked back on the early days of her romance with Wayne while they were both teenagers.

Sweet images of the pair cuddled up to each other in their younger years flashed up on screen as Coleen gushed over what first attracted her to Wayne.

She revealed: ‘I first met Wayne when we were really young. He used to always shout give us a date. He was cheeky, always sure of himself.’

While Wayne said: ‘I think Coleen wasn’t sure if I was being serious, but I knew she was different to all the other girls in the area and I really liked her.

‘She was very committed to her schoolwork and worked hard in school. Coleen and her family were a bit posher than my family was and I was a bit on the wild side but I knew Coleen was more disciplined. I just felt she knew what she wanted.’

Coleen admitted she was ‘shy’ about boys when she was a teenager and said she loved Wayne’s ‘cheekiness’ when they first went on a date at the age of 16.

‘Back then I was a bit shy when it came to boys and I didn’t talk to my dad about boys but I remember him saying, don’t ever chase a lad, let him do the chasing,’ she said.

‘I was 16 when I first ever went on a date with Wayne. I found him funny and I found the cheekiness quite charming.’

Wayne admitted he always knew he wanted to marry Coleen, with his wife revealing that the footballer even got her name tattooed on his arm in a sign of dedication.

Wayne said: ‘I knew Coleen was the girl I wanted to marry, wanted to have kids with, wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I just knew that it was meant to be, us being together, it was a feeling I knew at a young age.’

While Coleen shared: ‘He did get a tattoo, he’d had my name put on his arm. The fact that he got a tattoo, that was quite – he must have meant it. It showed he was committed,’ prompting Wayne to laugh as he refused to show the tattoo on screen.

The couple then described how their relationship changed when Wayne was thrust into the limelight with his footballing career after he made his professional debut with Everton in 2002.

They detailed the huge change from being unknown teenagers to being propelled into fame as ‘a big whirlwind’, but they still stuck beside one another through it all.

Coleen said: ‘All of a sudden we were given opportunities to do things go to places we hadn’t been to before. I was still at school but I wasn’t focused on my schoolwork so I decided to leave.’

The third episode of the documentary gave a further insight into their later life as a married couple and as parents to their four sons.

As Coleen spoke about the struggles of Rebekah Vardy’s libel case against her, home movies showing her family life with Wayne and her kids flashed up on screen.

One clip sweetly showed the boys playing football in their garden while other videos saw Coleen helping her sons get ready for school and marking their birthdays.
