‘I’m a MAFS UK bride and my wedding left loved ones with their heads in hands’

Married at First Sight UK bride Laura Vaughan has opened up about marrying a stranger and what she she regrets from her wedding day.

At the start of the series, fans watched Laura tie the knot with tennis coach Arthur Poremba after meeting him for the first time at the alter. After saying 'I Do' on front of their loved ones, they jetted off to Mexico on their honeymoon and moved in with each other when they returned back to the UK.

Their relationship got off to a rocky start after Arthur admitted to getting his wedding vows off the internet but he later made up for it by re-writing them and he was also forced to miss days off filming due to illness which saw Laura attend a dinner party and a commitment ceremony on her own.

Laura has spoken out about her experience on the E4 social experiment so far and says that despite not regretting taking part in the process, she would make different decisions if she got the chance to do it all over again.

Speaking about her wedding day to Arthur, Laura told Daily Star: "I regret my wedding. I watched it with my friends and family and they had their head in their hands and were like 'you would never talk like that'. I'm not just saying that because of the public reception but I've said recently that I just didn't really know who I was and I didn't feel comfortable enough with who I was to just be myself and that be enough so I had to play up to some characteristics that I knew as a well-spoken women that I'd probably get boxed into and that's a lesson for me that if you're just yourself you probably aren't going to go wrong.

"If you try and be an exaggerated version of yourself or someone you are not then it won't be received very well. It was great TV and I don't regret doing but you just don't know what the publics perception of you is going to be week on week and if I could go back and tell myself at the time I would honestly say be more true to yourself, be true to who you are and maybe smile a bit more because I do have a resting b***h face."

Despite all the drama airing on the show lately, the finance manager has confirmed that fans will see more "genuinely lovely moments" and "much needed fun" in upcoming scenes which are set to air in the coming weeks.

She said: "We all need some wholesome activities after this. At the minute, we've got a lot of big characters and the drama is rife but we can't forget that first and foremost we are here for our relationships and you will see the focus shifting back to actually to what we've all come here for and there's some genuinely lovely moments and some much needed fun and light relief."

While reality shows such as Big Brother and Love Island have put strict social media rules in place for contestants, the newlyweds have been able to use their online platforms at their leisure as the show continues to air. While some critics have slammed the cast members for being "too active" on social media Laura says it reminds trolls that they stars are real people.

Laura explained: "I've seen a lot of clap back recently about the cast being more active on socials than they ever have been. I think it's fine. I genuinely feel like as long as you've not given any spoilers away then it's a good reminder that we're all people and we have feelings and the person your hating one rom episode one might not exist anymore so bare that in mind. It's really important to remember and that's cast as well because I've seen cast attacking cast recently and it's like 'no come on, let's try and be friendly and get through it together'."

Married at First Sight UK airs Monday to Thursday on E4 at 9pm
