Someone is trying to flog a ‘very rare’ McNugget on Facebook for £400

When it comes to treat food, you can't beat a humble chicken nugget.

It's a popular favourite at McDonald's as it's a tasty fast-food treat on a budget but, over at Facebook, the foodie item is not so cost-effective. One seller on Facebook Marketplace is trying to flog one for £414.91 as it's believed to be "very, very rare".

The seller claims the quirky McNugget comes in the shape of "Australia", despite the fact that it excludes Tasmania.

It may seem a little outrageous, especially during a cost of living crisis, but the little nugget has got a lot of people talking. If you budget yourself £100 a week for a food shop – that works out as a month's worth of food – or more, if you're more savvy with your spending.

Working out how "rare" the McNugget actually is may be tough, but it's not the only one up for sale on Facebook. Aside from the "very, very rare shaped like Australia" nugget, food lovers also have the chance to splash thousands on Donald Trump-shaped nuggets too.

Back last year, one bloke advertised a "rare" double chicken nugget for sale which came in around the £6,000 mark. What's more is – he managed to sell it.

Admittedly, it didn't sell for the asking price, as a radio station snapped it up for £129.58. Still, it's a pretty big price tag for a little bite of chicken.

At one point, a seller even managed to flog a nug close to a whopping £51,000 on eBay. That's one super expensive portion of meat.

The pricey poultry was said to resemble a character from the mystery video game "Among Us", and even managed to get some hype from the official "Among Us" Twitter account. While not every nugget will make you rich, it's clear there's a big interest in these rare little gems.

If, on the other hand, you're looking for ways to save money on food McDonald's also offers weekly deals to customers who use the app. Back last week, the fast food chain actually slashed nuggets by 50%, and regularly have different offers on.

All deals are exclusively available on the McDonald’s App and customers can start earning points on all orders by downloading via Google Play or the Apple App Store here, signing up and opting into MyMcDonald’s Rewards.
